Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 lb ground turkey or chicken

1 cup fresh breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil

1/2 cup diced ripe peaches (fresh or canned, well-drained)

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

For the Peach BBQ Sauce:

1 cup peach preserves

1/4 cup ketchup

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for a spicy kick)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). To make the cleanup easier, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey or chicken, fresh breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, diced peaches, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and smoked paprika. Mix the ingredients thoroughly using your hands or a spatula until just combined, ensuring not to overmix to keep the meatballs tender.

Form the Meatballs: With your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet to ensure even cooking.

Bake the Meatballs: Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake the meatballs for about 20-25 minutes. They should be cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Prepare the Peach BBQ Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the peach preserves, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, ground ginger, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir the mixture until it’s warmed through and well combined, then let it simmer for 5-7 minutes to thicken slightly.

Glaze the Meatballs: When the meatballs are finished baking, remove them from the oven and generously brush them with the warm peach BBQ sauce. Return the meatballs to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes to allow the glaze to set.

Serve: Carefully remove the meatballs from the oven and allow them to cool for a couple of minutes. Serve them warm, drizzled with any remaining peach BBQ sauce, and garnish with fresh basil leaves or finely chopped green onions for an added touch of color and flavor.

                Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 40 minutes | Servings: 4-6

                  - Presentation Tips: Serve the meatballs on a large platter, with a bowl of the peach BBQ sauce on the side for dipping. A sprinkle of fresh basil or parsley can add a vibrant pop of color to the presentation.
