Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 cup cooked rice (either white or brown)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided

1 cup cream of mushroom soup (store-bought or homemade)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/4 cup milk

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for crunchy topping)

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to preheat while you prepare the other ingredients.

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, pour in the olive oil. Add the ground beef and cook until it is browned and no longer pink, approximately 5-7 minutes. Use a spatula to break the beef into smaller crumbles as it cooks. If there's excess fat after cooking, drain it from the skillet.

Incorporate the Broccoli: Add the fresh broccoli florets to the skillet with the cooked beef. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli begins to soften but is still bright green.

Combine the Remaining Ingredients: Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. To the skillet, add the cooked rice, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to ensure all the ingredients are evenly mixed.

Melt the Cheese: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese until it is melted and fully incorporated into the mixture.

Prepare for Baking: Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the mixture in the skillet. If a crunchy topping is desired, feel free to add breadcrumbs over the cheese.

Bake: Carefully place the skillet in the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown and the broccoli is tender.

Serve: Once done, remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool slightly. If you added breadcrumbs, consider garnishing with a few more on top for extra texture. Serve warm and enjoy this comforting cheesy beef and broccoli dish!
