In a medium bowl, combine the chicken tenderloins and buttermilk. Ensure the chicken is fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and add flavor.
In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for approximately 5 minutes.
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and let any excess drip off. Dredge each tender in the seasoned flour mixture, coating thoroughly. For crunchier texture, dip back into buttermilk and then into the panko mixture again.
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or oil. Arrange the coated chicken tenders in a single layer in the basket with space between each piece.
Spray the tops of the chicken tenders with cooking spray for extra crispiness. Air fry at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and fully cooked.
Remove the chicken tenders from the air fryer and allow them to rest for a couple of minutes. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
Adjust the cayenne pepper for desired spice level.
