1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and drained

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk (almond, soy, or oat)

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup cornmeal or panko breadcrumbs

1/2 cup vegan buffalo sauce

2 tablespoons olive oil (for drizzling)

Prepare the Tofu: Start by slicing the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes or rectangular pieces, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking. Use paper towels to pat the tofu pieces dry, removing any excess moisture to enhance crispiness.

    Make the Vegan Buttermilk: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the unsweetened plant-based milk and apple cider vinegar. Allow this mixture to sit for approximately 5 minutes. This will curdle slightly and create a vegan buttermilk substitute.

      Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the all-purpose flour with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Ensure all the dry spices are evenly distributed throughout the flour.

        Coat the Tofu: Take each piece of tofu and first dip it into the flour mixture, making sure it is fully coated.
