Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets (can use fresh or frozen)

1 cup bell pepper, sliced (choose red or yellow for vibrant color)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, finely grated

3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for stir-frying)

2 teaspoons sesame oil

2 cups cooked white rice (or brown rice)

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate for about 20 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare the Rice: Cook the rice following the instructions on the package. For an enhanced flavor, consider using chicken broth instead of water for cooking. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and set it aside, keeping it warm.

Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once the oil is shimmering, add the broccoli florets and bell pepper slices. Stir-fry for approximately 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and stir quickly for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the marinated beef, spreading it out in a single layer for even cooking. Stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes or until the beef is browned and cooked through, ensuring to stir frequently to avoid burning.

Combine Everything: Once the beef is cooked, return the stir-fried vegetables to the skillet. Drizzle in 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Stir everything together for 1-2 minutes to blend the flavors and heat through.

Serve: On a plate, serve a generous portion of cooked rice and top it with the savory beef and broccoli mixture. For an extra touch, drizzle a bit more sesame oil over the top. Garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions to add a burst of color and flavor.
