Ingredients

1 cup dried hibiscus flowers

5 cups water

1 medium orange (zested and juiced)

1/4 cup honey or agave syrup (adjust according to your sweetness preference)

2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves (optional for added freshness)

Fresh orange slices for garnish

Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Hibiscus Tea: In a medium saucepan, bring 5 cups of water to a rolling boil. Once the water has reached a boil, remove the saucepan from heat and add the dried hibiscus flowers. Cover the saucepan and let it steep for 10-15 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer the hibiscus flavor.

Strain and Sweeten: After steeping, use a fine mesh strainer to separate the vibrant red tea from the hibiscus flowers. Pour the strained tea into a heat-proof pitcher. While the tea remains warm, add the honey or agave syrup, stirring gently until it is completely dissolved.

Incorporate Citrus: To the warm tea mixture, add the freshly squeezed orange juice and stir in the orange zest for an extra citrusy punch. If using, place the fresh mint leaves in the bottom of the pitcher and gently muddle them with a muddler or the back of a spoon to release their aromatic oils before adding the tea mixture.

Cool Down: Allow the hibiscus tea mixture to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer the pitcher to the refrigerator and chill for about 1-2 hours, or until completely cold.

Serve: To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the chilled hibiscus tea over the ice, ensuring each glass gets a beautiful splash of color. Garnish with fresh orange slices and additional mint leaves if desired for a vibrant finish.

Enjoy: Sip your refreshing Citrus Hibiscus Bliss on a warm day, and let the delightful burst of citrus flavor invigorate your senses!
