Ingredients

4 slices of thick bread (preferably challah or brioche)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk (choose dairy or non-dairy according to preference)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons sugar (optional, for added sweetness)

Pinch of salt

1 tablespoon butter or non-stick spray for greasing the air fryer

Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or whipped cream

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: Cut each slice of thick bread into three equal strips to create sticks. Set aside the bread sticks.

Prepare the Batter: In a medium mixing bowl, thoroughly whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sugar (if using), and a pinch of salt until the mixture is well combined and smooth.

Coat the Bread Sticks: Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, ensuring that both sides are completely coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off back into the bowl.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for about 5 minutes to ensure even cooking.

Arrange and Grease: Lightly grease the air fryer basket with butter or non-stick spray to prevent the sticks from sticking. Carefully place the coated French toast sticks in a single layer in the basket, ensuring that they are not overcrowded and that there is space between each stick for optimal cooking.

Air-Fry the Sticks: Cook the French toast sticks in the air fryer at 370°F for 8-10 minutes. Flip them halfway through the cooking time to achieve an even, golden-brown color. Keep a close eye on them to avoid overcooking.

Serve and Enjoy: Once the French toast sticks are golden brown and crisp, remove them from the air fryer carefully. Serve them warm with your choice of toppings, such as a drizzle of maple syrup, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or a dollop of whipped cream.
